Iowa State Wins Big in Secondary Market

Executives in Ames are being lauded today after sliding out from under huge losses by dumping illiquid default swaps to a drunk pompadour banker waving a cavalry sword somewhere in the South.  Colonial Bank officials in Montgomery could not be reached for comment.  However, former CEO D. Paul Jones of Birmingham-based Compass Bank, was cornered at a local Cracker Barrel, responding, “We made some strategic moves over the past 24 months that we felt placed us in an advantageous situation for futher market penetration.”  Which we’re not sure what that means, but could be in reference to the knock on his door when Saban cleared the $3.5 million number.

“I did what?”  - Directors’ committee will not be fun this week in Montgomery.

    Nice work, Ded.

    As you suggest, this may wind up being a good thing for ISU. Getting a young coach with a brand new staff may be the way to go.

    For Auburn, not so much.

    Personally I think the AD should strongly consider looking at Div I-AA for his next coach. Hell, there’s got to be PLENTY of candidates there that would want to make the jump to a BCS conference. As long as he’s up front with them and tells them that it’s a rebuilding process (scratch that, a starting over process) it might be worth it for one of those guys. Hell, bring in the coach and staff from Montana or UNI or App State.

    Agree with Mister Mike. This isn’t a situation where you try to make a splash going after Turner Gill or some ‘hot’ coordinator somewhere. Interview the most productive D I-AA coaches over the last five years, guys who have shown an ability to run a program, hire good staff, and recruit under-the-radar talent (then coach ‘em up.)

    Live with 2-10 for another two years and hope for momentum. Hey, you’re Iowa State. Dream of becoming a 90’s K-State; I think that’s realistic.
