Since dabbling around in the live concert scene to some extent has become a hobby of mine after arriving in the Big D, I sometimes stumble across some musical acts that are worth checking out.
June’s Country Pick: Hayes Carll – A Houston, TX product I’ve enjoyed lately after receiving a recommendation from a friend. He’s a pretty decent songwriter. If you like Son Volt or the Uncle Tupelo years, I think you’ll like this guy. We can have some pride in the stuff this guy is doing.
June’s Rock Pick: Jackie Greene - Heard his song “I’m So Gone” on XM on the way between two points. Just started listening to him, but like Carll, he’s been around a while and I’m just now getting plugged in. He’s doing something a little different and I’m not sure where I stand just yet on the complete body of work, but I have come to the conclusion that regardless, that’s a damn good song and a lot of people out there will like this guy more than me in the end.
On the Radar: Ghostland Observatory and I keep hearing good things about The Supersuckers, but keep missing them.

Robert Earl Keen was pretty good last weekend. Nothing new there, but still good tunes and pure Texas.
