Well, it’s been a couple of days, so hopefully everyone’s recovered from the loss to A&M on Saturday.

Breakout Players: Big 12 South

Posted by dedfischer on February 15th, 2010 under Football

I’ve heard some recent complaints about Ivan Maisel’s breakout player picks for the Big 12.  I can understand your frustrations, but I didn’t think those were too bad of picks outside of Dixon possibly never making it to campus.  Here are a couple of guys from each South team that I’ve got my eye on headed into the season:

Texas Longhorns

Offense - OL Tray Allen – I’m not sure if he’s an inside or outside guy this year,

Two Loops & a Hooey – Valentine’s Day Edition

Posted by dedfischer on February 14th, 2010 under Football

I got my Valentine’s Day wrapped and slapped two days ago, so I’ve got the rest of the day off.  I’ve mentioned in passing that my neighbor, Panama, has claimed to be a relative of Vince Young’s by marriage.  Now, I’ve never really questioned his claim as everything he has told me over the last 4 or 5 years has panned out.

On Friday night, Panama bangs on the door about 7:30, pops his head in, and

OU Post Mortem: Justice

Justice.  After watching the Tony Crocker school of ‘bitching at refs until you get a bogus charge call’, it didn’t look good for Tech.  But OU’s woeful outside shooting came to the rescue.

I’m just letting you know I’ve started a little homework based on the information revealed over the last couple of weeks.

Mid-Season Thoughts and OU Pre-Game

Posted by RRR on February 8th, 2010 under Basketball

While I’m stuck contemplating Bob Huggins’ aqua-net wings for two hours before the KU-UT collision, I figured I’d jot some notes on this Tech team and what lies before it.

Two Loops & a Hooey – Pioneer Edition

Posted by dedfischer on February 7th, 2010 under Football

This is a new feature I’ll try to do a better job of keeping up with this offseason.  The Cheerleader of the Week gig kind of got old.  I still looked at pictures, but I ran out of material quickly.  Since I can’t sleep past 6:30 anymore, Sunday mornings will serve well for the matter.

It’s kind of a stupid, interesting or funny story how I came up with that name.  I’ll tell you how it

OSU Post Mortem

In our Big XII opener, OSU smoked us by 29.  We tried to get some payback.

Recruiting Retort: Offense

Posted by dedfischer on February 6th, 2010 under Football

Well, Kadron Boone gave us a 6-month lap dance before bolting to a swankier joint and better tips in New Orleans.  Let me tell you something, Kadron, it’s not all its cracked up to be.  Next thing you know, you’re stuck in a dive fetish joint off Bourbon Street asking how your life has come to a series of $100 transactions for Louisiana Congressmen to urinate on your leg.  Good luck.

Onto the new Red Raiders and we’ll use

Dallas Recruiting Roundup Notes

Posted by dedfischer on February 5th, 2010 under Football

 Per Willis:

- Porter is an NFL corner.

- Phillip Warren might turn out to be the best player in the class. He really, really likes this guy.

- Whigham will be looked at on offense first.

- The only guy he previously knew about or recruited at Bama was Fred Harvey, who camped there.  Not necessarily the type of athlete he is targeting at the ILB position to chase Dan Buckner and Ryan Tannehill.  Thank God.

I didn’t watch all the games you guys played all year but yesterday’s game seemed to me to hinge on the ineffectiveness of Sherron. really sad for that guy as he’s a baller. I think Ojanb Bob said this over at BC too. He just couldn’t get it done on either

Welcome, Adam. What a freaking win today. Amazing game.

At this point you guys are a MASH unit so I don’t see you guys winning two more but you never know!

He sure seems like a force of nature. I watched Haynesworth win games (in contract years).

Third and fourth bullets are good stuff.

Good to be able to admit fault and correct it.

This game next year could be an ESPN Game Day special and if so, you’re taking me.

    Nate,

Missed the point, but par for the course. I’ll go back to my developmentally challenged assistance home and cry.

Indeed, back on point. Any rumblings about anyone else on the take? Tiny and TMG had great panache’. They sounded like a Vegas show….

I agree the RG position will be the most interesting development of the Spring. Last year Okafor couldn’t drive block and couldn’t run in the open field on screen plays. If he’s not physically capable of losing weight and improving, I want to know who will replace him. Suh and McCoy may

I wish they weren’t playing Kentucky next. Same goes for #11 seed Washington having to play West Virginia.

Sucks that we are getting the two best teams left in the tourney playing in the Elite 8 possibly.

Steve Sipple has a Q&A with Bo Pelini in Sunday’s Lincoln Journal Star. There are some candid comments and it’s worth a read. Some notable excerpts:

On the program’s improvement: “I’m hungrier than I’ve ever been because I think we’re getting close…I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think the players feel the

    Okay, gloves off.

No stats, no recaps, none of that.

If you have ever read my stuff on Bleacher Report you would notice that I keep to a newspaper style of writing. On this blog, I want to be more opinionated, but without being out of line at the same time.

Here it goes, this is what I
