UT Post Mortem – Okorie for the tie…in and out.

Posted by RRR on February 20th, 2010 under Basketball

After being out-rebounded 43-22, three starters banged up, and looking out-gunned for 35 minutes, somehow we end up with a shot to tie at the end.

Two Loops & a Hooey – Winter Olympic Edition

Posted by dedfischer on February 20th, 2010 under Uncategorized

A little known fact about me is that I was the Texas 4-H air pistol state champion in what I recall as about the 7th grade.  Impressive, you say?  Well, it's kind of a funny story in a way.  My shooting abilities were fostered under a 4-H program that literally spit out Olympic hopefuls.  We might have had as many as 2 or 3 shooters qualify for the Olympic Trials in a given year.  It

Two Loops & a Hooey – Pioneer Edition

Posted by dedfischer on February 7th, 2010 under Football

This is a new feature I'll try to do a better job of keeping up with this offseason.  The Cheerleader of the Week gig kind of got old.  I still looked at pictures, but I ran out of material quickly.  Since I can't sleep past 6:30 anymore, Sunday mornings will serve well for the matter. It's kind of a stupid, interesting or funny story how I came up with that name.  I'll tell you how it

Horns Lose Mason Walters for Spring

Posted by dedfischer on February 5th, 2010 under Football

The Barking Carnival reports Frenship native Mason Walters will miss spring practice after undergoing foot surgery.  Walters was expected to compete for a starting job, possibly at left tackle to replace Adam Ulatoski. RT Kyle Hix will most likely be given a shot at the left side in the spring.  Serious competition will come from the next best option on the Longhorn bus, an empty propane bottle, which showed promise in fall practice while redshirting.

An electric first half made things interesting, but the mighty Horns asserted themselves in the second half.

No Darko/D’walyn for UT

Posted by RRR on January 26th, 2010 under Basketball

Per the AJ, D'wayln is hurt and Darko is currently uncoachable.  As if we weren't out-gunned already.  I feel like the HMS Hood coming in range of the Bismarck.

Stupid Neutral-Site Games That Would Never Happen

Posted by chicagottu on January 21st, 2010 under Football

So the hot new thing in sports is to host sporting events at unlikely venues. Last year I attended the Blackhawks vs RedWings game on New Year’s Day at Wrigley Field. Aside from being ultra-pricey, it was pretty cool. (Thank you wasted Southside-Irish guy for smuggling in that bottle of Admiral Nelson. Genius.) Actually, now that I think about it, this isn’t really anything new. The NFL has played in Mexico and is playing across the

Earl Thomas Spots Tech 7 Points in Lubbock

Posted by dedfischer on January 10th, 2010 under Football

Redshirt Sophomore safety Earl Thomas of Texas has declared for the NFL Draft, thank God. Dude was fearless and the best route recognition player I've seen play at the college level. Got a lot of respect for this little guy and I'll remember him as one of the best I've seen come through the Texas program.  I'm expecting an announcement from Von Miller any day now.  Steven Sheffield told me he's ready for the Kenny Vacarro

Big 12 Drops Another MNC Game

Posted by dedfischer on January 9th, 2010 under Football

I'll never forget when my grandfather gifted my first Dave Campbell's Texas Football for my birthday in 1985.  He was a diehard TCU fan/graduate.  He instilled in me a set of SWC blowhard principles in determining for whom you should root.  He would also be appalled to know his daughter threw away my Wacker Clacker and Billy Roscoe replica jersey sometime subsequent to his death with which I'm almost certainly positive was a result of the Tony

Texas Tech @ Texas Post-Mortem: Ain’t Skared

Posted by dedfischer on September 20th, 2009 under Football

I'll remember this game for several reasons even though we came out on the short end of the stick.  I felt this was an undermanned Tech football team that had all the traditional characteristics of donkey bbq, provide ass makings in a game of this nature.  I'm happy as a pig in shit today that I was dead-ass wrong.  I'll remember this game because on this day I was proud of my football team.  Well
